|Extreme conditions are our daily business|
"Good work is the best advertisement" was the principle of the businessman Dietrich Funke, who, together with the technician Otto Huster, founded a manufacturing company for electrical devices and units, in Herne on 1st November 1897. Funke + Huster – this name quickly carried a good reputation, especially in the mining industry. Yet today, the name FHF Funke + Huster Fernsig GmbH is held in high esteem.
The company's founders and their team gained their experience under harshest conditions: underground in the mine. And even then they were searching for innovative developments. At a time when it was still usual to install telephone devices only in wooden cases, Huster developed the first telephone set in a waterproof metal box which proved to be very well suited for underground usage. Furthermore, Huster expanded the company's range of telephone devices by a predecessor of today's mobile phones which merely was considerably bigger and heavier than the currently available units. Funke + Huster also played a significant role in automating the technology for the mining industry. The mine control stations developed by this company register, check and control the mining operations. The automation technology, the telecontrol and signalling technique were Huster + Funke's most important fields of work.
The range of markets where FHF Bergbautechnik provides its customers with solutions today stretches from the mining industry to the petrochemical industry and also includes infrastructure applications. Whether in tunnels in hard coal or ore mining or in final waste storage sites for the nuclear industry: FHF-BT products are always used if there exists an explosive atmosphere, high humidity, dust and water or if special requirements on the robustness of the devices are to be met, as e.g. in the case of considerable temperature variations or mechanical loads. Our aim in developing these devices and systems is always to reach optimum results at lowest energy ratings: high volume, large working ranges and low interference susceptibility.
FHF Bergbautechnik GmbH, founded in June 2001 out of FHF Funke + Huster Fernsig GmbH supplies radio systems, stop and interlock devices as well as telephone systems to its customers in the hard coal mining, ore mining and potash mining and rocksalt mining. Our main markets are Germany, France, Russia and China.
